IKEA is by far one of the best budget DIY furniture and homeware stores – on August 25 2013 they are launching their augmented reality catalogue designed by SD techno-design company Inition. The app will allow people to select a piece of furniture and see it in location, one will probably be able to buy it online and then have it delivered. Although there’s still fun in testing out (and lounging on) furniture at an IKEA store.
These images are of a hanging lamp shade designed by Benjamin Hurbert. The lamp called Tenda, meaning tent in Italian, is made of fiberglass rods for kites, Lycra used for sportswear and a synthetic mesh fabric used for underwear. Combined together makes for a very cool lamp.
These images are of a tea table design by Korean designers Hanna & Seo. It’s called the Ripple Effect Tea Table and was inspired by an Asian cultural maxim that ‘small changes in an individual’s life can have an impact and have a certain effect to the whole community’.
Made from earthen ware, plywood, ash and pure water. Beautiful concept.
I love these stools designed by Spanish furniture designers Alvaro Catalan de Ocon . The visual aesthetic of the geometry makes for some interesting perspective. The choice of materials and finishes just adds to the play on perspective.
